The Car From The Can

A book about can cars & miniature rc culture

The Car From The Can is a visual and historical journey into the strange, precise and obsessive world of can cars – tiny radio controlled machines sold in drink-sized cans, collected, raced and modified far beyond what they were ever designed for.

By Mikael Madsen · artist, collector and archivist of small, fast things.

Main language: English · with a distinctly nerdy, hands-on perspective.

The book follows the can car from toy store shelf to hacked, tuned and re-contextualised object: from Taiyo and Tyco to Radi-Can, Race-tin and home-made hybrids running on custom electronics. It mixes documentation, archive material and personal research – less a catalogue, more a field guide to a very specific form of obsession.
